Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy

An experience shaped by atmosphere.

Step inside a controlled, pressurized environment where oxygen is delivered under conditions beyond those experienced at normal atmospheric pressure.

Hyperbaric oxygen therapy offers an experience unlike any other at the Haus—one shaped by specialized technology, dedicated time, and appropriate clinical oversight.

Before you enter the chamber, we’ll take the time to understand your health history, discuss why HBOT is being considered, and determine whether it may be appropriate for you.

From there, we’ll guide you through the experience so you know what to expect from beginning to end.

The HBOT Experience.

Inside the experience.

Hyperbaric oxygen therapy takes place inside a chamber where atmospheric pressure is increased according to a defined treatment protocol.

Within this controlled environment, oxygen is delivered according to the protocol selected for your care.

The experience itself is quiet and unhurried. Before your first session, we’ll explain how the chamber works, what you may experience as pressure changes, how you’ll communicate with our team, and what to expect throughout your time inside.

Before You Enter the Chamber.

Understanding comes first.

HBOT isn’t appropriate for everyone, which makes thoughtful screening an important part of the experience.

Before treatment, we’ll review relevant health information and discuss factors that may affect whether you can safely use the chamber. This may include medical conditions, medications, recent illness, ear or sinus concerns, and your comfort with enclosed spaces.

It’s also your opportunity to ask questions, understand why HBOT is being considered, and feel informed before deciding whether to proceed.

Inside the Chamber.

Know what comes next.

As the chamber is pressurized, you may notice changes in pressure—particularly in your ears—similar to what some people experience during changes in altitude.

Before your session begins, we’ll explain what you may feel, how to equalize pressure when appropriate, how to communicate with our team, and what to do if you become uncomfortable.

Your session follows the protocol selected for you, with appropriate oversight throughout the experience.

Understanding Your Treatment.

Every detail has a reason.

With HBOT, the details matter.

Your provider will explain why HBOT is being considered, what the proposed approach involves, potential benefits and limitations relevant to that use, and important risks or considerations.

If HBOT isn’t appropriate for you, or another approach may make more sense, we’ll discuss that with you as well.

Your Plan, Clearly Defined.

A plan with purpose.

If more than one session is recommended, we’ll explain the reasoning behind the proposed approach.

Your provider can walk you through the anticipated schedule, what the treatment is intended to accomplish, how your response may be evaluated, and when your plan should be reassessed.

We’ll also make sure you understand the time commitment and cost before moving forward.

You should understand not only what you’re doing, but why.

Frequently Asked
Questions

What is hyperbaric oxygen therapy?

Hyperbaric oxygen therapy, often referred to as HBOT, involves breathing oxygen within a chamber where atmospheric pressure has been increased above normal conditions.
Treatment is performed according to a defined protocol, with appropriate clinical screening and oversight.

Yes. Relevant health information is reviewed before treatment to determine whether HBOT may be appropriate for you and whether there are factors that require additional consideration.

Experiences vary, but you may notice pressure changes as the chamber is pressurized, particularly in your ears.
Once the desired pressure is reached, you’ll remain inside for the treatment period while being appropriately monitored. We’ll explain the experience and communication process before your first session.

Let us know before your appointment. We’ll explain the chamber experience and discuss your concerns before you decide whether to proceed.

Session length varies depending on the protocol selected. We’ll explain the anticipated time commitment before your first treatment.

There isn’t one schedule appropriate for everyone. The number and frequency of sessions depend on why HBOT is being considered and the treatment plan recommended for you.
If a series is proposed, your provider will explain the reasoning and anticipated schedule before you begin.

No. Hyperbaric oxygen therapy requires appropriate clinical screening, and certain medical conditions, medications, or other circumstances may affect whether treatment is appropriate.

We’ll provide preparation instructions based on your individual circumstances and treatment protocol before your appointment. If you have questions about medications, recent illness, ear or sinus symptoms, or anything else that may affect treatment, let us know before your visit.

Hyperbaric oxygen therapy has established medical uses, and hyperbaric chambers are regulated medical devices. Not every condition or wellness goal sometimes associated with HBOT has been cleared or approved by the FDA.
Your provider will explain the intended use being considered for you, the available evidence, and the potential benefits, limitations, and risks before treatment.
